Lightstar Renewables (LSR) has an immediate opening for an Applications Engineer to support the development of its in-house data management tool. The tools framework is PHP-based Yii. You will be supporting the CTO. The tool’s focus will be the management and reporting of solar site-specific data. Data will include locations, accounts, land/grid/permitting characteristics, purchase orders, and milestones.

The role is remote but will require in-person meetings from time to time. As LSR continues to grow, opportunities to develop unique skills will be available, as well as opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of an enterprise-level web-based application
  • Develop in PHP, JavaScript, MySQL and HTML
  • Collaborate with team members as well as operate individually to develop a complex web-based application
  • Maintain existing codebases, including troubleshooting bugs and adding new features
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of our customer’s business goals and related system interactions
  • Work closely with others to define and clarify project plans, deliverables, expectations, scheduling, and applications’ functionality
  • Collaborate/coordinate with other teams at LSR
  • Prepare internal and external documents and presentations
  • Support management of 3rd party IT provider
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • 1-2+ years working experience with PHP
  • PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, HTML, LAMP development/coding, MVC Framework (Yii), version control system (GIT)
  • MySQL knowledge (write and optimize queries)
  • Object-Oriented PHP
  • Possess robust database architecture and implementation skills with experience in efficient MySQL usage
  • Programming logic, good code-writing style, and commenting is a must
  • Comprehensive understanding of HTML
  • Dependable and professional
  • Self-motivated, quick learner
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently, but also must work well with others
  • Ability to recognize tasks that need to be completed and willing to take responsibility for them
